Resort Bad Dürkheim
Situated on the edge of the Pfalz forest and on the German wine route is this beautiful city and health resort, 50 km east from Kaiserslautern, 20 km west from Ludwigshafen. All shops, restaurants etc. in the resort. Indoor pool, wellness centre, sauna, sun bed. Access: railway station in the resort. For arrivals by plane: airport Frankfurt (FRA) 100 km. Bad Duerkheim's fame is thanks to the "Wurstmarkt", the world's largest wine festival takes place evry year on the 2nd and 3rd weekend in September. The "Duerkheimer Riesenfass" has to be seen, the world's largest wine barrel holding 1 700 000 litres. Testimony to the Roman viniculture and wine-pressing businesses, the Hardenburg ruins and the striking monastery ruins in Limburg are proof of the long history of this interesting and lively town.
