None of the numerous Greek islands can compare to Corfu in respect of its rich greenery. The long, narrow island lies in front of the Epirus coastline. The business capital Kerkira inspires visitors with its Byzantine churches, Venetian castles and the Spianada, a large square with shady arcades. Night-life in the capital pulsates til late whilst a few kilometres further you can come across quiet, picturesque villages and magical country houses. Particularly impressive is the mountain scenery to the North and the inviting bathing bays around Paleokastritsa.
