The farming village is idyllically situated on a hill with a beautiful view of the countryside in Oberaargau. Wangenried is in a central, convenient location three kilometres from Wangen an der Aare, 12 km from Solothurn and 45 km from Bern. All services can be found in the village within three to twelve kilometres.

In winter the Marbach ski area is 70 km away with chair lifts, ski lifts, ski school, cross-country trails, winter hiking trails and toboggan runs. There is an ice rink within 13 km.
Lake Inkwil is ideal for a summer walk. Bicycle paths and hiking trails are available. The open-air swimming pool three kilometres away is also recommended.
