Muonio is a municipality located in Finnish Lapland, at the Swedish border, and about 200 km above the Arctic Circle. The polar night lasts from the beginning of December to the middle of January and the polar day from the beginning of June to the beginning of August. Muonio is one of the coldest communities in Finland and here a test area of vehicles under Arctic conditions is located. This area consists of various test tracks and ice rinks and is available to all vehicle manufacturers in the automotive industry. The Pallas Yllästunturi National Park is located about 20 km from Muonio.
