Pello is a municipality in West Lapland, Finland, which belongs to Tornion Walley (Torniolaakso) and is traversed by Torne River (Tornionjoki). On the Swedish side of Torne River, the small town of Pello is located. From Pello in Finland a bridge leads over Torne River to Pello in Sweden. Torne River is Europe's last undeveloped river and thanks to its salmons a paradise for anglers. In winter, ice blocks from Torne River are exported worldwide to be used for various events, such as the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi and the Icebars of a certain spirits manufacturer that operates Icebars in several European cities as well as in Tokyo and Shanghai. Every year the Swimming Competition "Swim the Arctic Circle" takes place in Pello.
