Posio is a community with about 3,500 inhabitants in the southeastern part of Lapland, 135 km from Rovaniemi and 60 km from Kuusamo Airport. In Posio there are about 3,000 lakes surrounded by large untouched forests. This makes this community very attractive for fishing, hiking and watching the nature. The Riisitunturi National Park, just north of Posio, is a popular hiking destination all year round. The Korouoma canyon is also a popular hiking area. In winter, the waterfalls in the canyon freeze and form stunning ice formations.
