Salla is a municipality with just under 4,000 inhabitants in Lappland, Finland. The municipality is located about 150 km east of Rovaniemi, at the Russian border. A part of the Oulanka National Park, which is one of the most visited national parks in Finland, belongs to the area of Salla. The most popular hiking trail in Finland, Karhunkierros (Bear's Round) is approximately 80 kilometres long and runs for the most of its length within the Oulanka National Park. The longest hiking trail is 80 km long and can be hiked all year round. The Salla Ski Resort, which is located by Sallatunturi ski area, has 6 lifts and 15 slopes, of which 11 are illuminated. There is also a snowpark and a professional ski school.
