The capital of Finnish Lapland and the official hometown of Santa Claus is located directly at the Arctic Circle. Rovaniemi is also the cultural capital of Lapland and there are many interesting museum and attractions, including the forest-themed Pilke Science Centre, the Korundi House of Culture and the Arktikum Science Centre and Museum with a 172 metres long glass corridor, leading from the Ounasjoki River to the Science Centre. Just outside the Rovaniemi city centre, Finland's first cable-stayed bridge, the Jätkänkynttilä Bridge, which crosses the Kemijoki River, is located. At night the bridge is illuminated.
About 8 kilometers away from Rovaniemi you will find the Santa Claus Village, where you can visit Santa Claus in his post office every day of the year. Letters sent from here receives the unique postmark of the Santa Claus Post Office. A few kilometers from Santa Claus Village, the Santa's own cavern -Santa Park- is located. Here you can undercross the Arctic Circle by 50 meters underground. Santa’s hidden Christmas Command Center and Santa’s Secret Forest -Joulukka- are also nearby.
